Ok so for the past week I've been trying to just get out of the house, be around tons of people and just... get away from thinking about Mr. Strobel. And I've succeeded for the most part which is why I was only around to stream like 2 times and haven't uploaded much etc.
Art wise, I just got a ton of new supplies. I got oil paints, I got 4 canvases from 11x14 - 16x20 to paint on. So in the next few months expect some huge paintings. I also bought some clay glaze so I can make some better clay stuff. Some one in my family gave me a nice amount to buy some supplies so I have and I'm really excited to get into some more complex art mediums.
Anyways, going to the visitation for Mr. Strobel today. Hope it gives me some closure. Tomorrow my parents are gone all day/night so hopefully I can do some streaming, start some paintings, get some clayreations done etc.
Thank you so much for all the support and prayers to the family and friends. I know right now they're just happy he was found even though it's tragic that he wasn't found still breathing. As far as anyone knows it was an accident, the autopsy didn't find any signs of anything other than tripping or passing out and falling in. A very tragic accident a lot of people wish never happened.
So for now I got 5 hours of driving to do one way today.

AJ
I am very happy to hear that your family is feeling a bit better emotionally. Still praying for you all. ^^
((...and I need to go to bed. xD))
Heh yeah. The visitation... was huge. Easily 1,500 people went through there if not twice as many throughout the day. The whole city tried to show up I think and then some... I guess I found out no one knows if they are a christian family... I thought they were so that makes me more sad. Ms. Strobel was very happy we made the 5 1/2 hour drive down and surprised we had.
Oh wow, that sounds amazing. I am happy that so many people showed up, but it also must have been a little over-whelming. Oh...no one is sure if they are Christians or not? That is really sad. Hopefully prayers will help anyways.
And your family really care about them if you would drive that far, good for you.
Yeah it was really good that there was so much support. Jess (close friend of Ms. Stroble and a good friend of mine) said they didn't have a church home and she wasn't really sure if they believed or not... So yeah =/ I assumed they did, they seemed like a nice christian family with bible verses in their house and very giving and kind.
I've only done 2 good paintings that I'm proud of and those are watercolor... I won't touch oil XD
I'd love to see more sculptures as well!
The dragon you did for Hanah was awesome
I think it's good that you're going there, eventhough it's not something to look forward to it might give you some closure
And I can understand that they are just happy he was found. Living in doubt and not knowing would've been even worse...
Yeah, it was good. Ms. Strobel was quite surprised and thankful we came. The family had all mourned for 2 weeks pretty much so they were able to talk and greet and smile a bit which I guess is good. They said they'll miss him a lot though and that he just always had a great attitude. All the pictures made me cry because that's what I remembered, seeing him in his house with his kids and stuff... They didn't have the casket open though so I didn't quite get to see-to-believe he was gone but it was good my mom and I went.
I saw the bridge... It had a low rail on one side and no railing on the other and it was for the train tracks... So I could see if some one was a little drunk how they could have easily fallen off =/
Can't wait to see more paintings from you!
Hope the other person will also pay for the art supplies, people tend to forget how costly they are
Hehe, I didn't even bother reading all that much about dA creative grant... Just took a look now since you mentioned it
But it would be cool if you could use it
Is it for an exhibition and meet and greet with the artist from you in the Netherlands? (would be cool XD)
Sunsets and sunrises are beautiful!
They can definately inspire you
Glad it helped a bit
Must've still been hard though...
But it was definately appreciated and probably will help you to get some closure
Especially since you saw the bridge with your own eyes.
Hopefully things will get better for you from now on
The art your planning will probably be a nice distraction
And hopefully give you a good time doing them
I want to host two different art education projects in my community between August-September of this year. One would teach 15 kids between 9-15 a love of art and get them some supplies so they keep working. The other would educate the general public about the existence of digital art through demonstrations and prints. My community is so art illiterate =/ They all assume A) To be an artist you just are born good at it, B) Only the professionals in the area can be artist, why try or C) They don't understand the time/money/effort that goes into art. Which is pretty common.
I'm also sure that I'm one of maybe... 10 digital artists in my whole state. I don't know a single other digital artist anywhere, only painters and photographers. So it'd be a great time to educate people about digital art as well.
Schools don't have that much money though so it would be charity?!
A shame that there is no gap between flights, though I'd still live in the other end of the country (north-east)
Who knows, maybe someday... at least we have the internet ^^
Sounds good, art classes for hobbyists are pretty rare around here
Would be cool to have that here as well.
And I know what you mean about art illiterate, though it does seem to be changing
I have heard more and more people saying that they have drawing as a hobby, though it's still just a handfull of people XD
The A+B point you mentioned are nice ones to think about.
I definately think that Talent is born and that some people are natural artists but I also believe that everybody can become one
And what I like about DA it shows that everyone that makes something IS an artist, ofcourse not all at the same level but pretty much everyone is referred to as an artist and respected for that ^^ (though I wouldn'n't call myself one outside dA...)
Lol yeah. I think anything can be learned. The only talent anyone can really be 'born' with is singing but anyone could learn to be a composer, an artist, a musician, a water-skier, a novelist etc, its just that some are more naturally talented and some have to work harder
Heh yeah~ Speaking of art... *just finished her painting *
